Professor Ken L. Sarles IA.
DESCRIPTION OF THE COURSE How
could a good God allow Lucifer to fall, thereby introducing evil into
His creation? Can
a believer be demon possessed? Can we know if angels are assisting us?
These and other
provocative questions will
be answered in this course. If you want to take a careful look
at your relationship with other supernatural beings, this is the class
for you. GOALS OF THE COURSE I
B. Regarding Apprehension: 1C.
That the student will be aware of the chief categories, central
passages ‑and key definitions involved in the doctrine of Angels. 2C.
That the student will gain insight into the theological
implications of the creation, nature, and fall of Lucifer. 3C. That the student will obtain basic bibliography for
another study. 2B.
Regarding Attitude: 1C.
That the student will be encouraged as he comprehends the ways in
which God used His angelic hosts to minister to His people. 2C.
That the student will be sobered by a realization of the
devastating effects of Satan's rebellion and demonic strategy against
believers. 3C. That the student will have a greater appreciation for the
value of studying, the doctrine of Angels. 3B.
Regarding Action: 1C.
That the student will develop convictions about biblical teaching
on angels, demons, and Satan. 2C.
That the student will be able to intelligently and coherently
discuss the subjects covered in class. 3C. That the student will grow in godliness as a result of
what is learned. 3A.
REQUIREMENTS OF THE COURSE 1B. Regarding Required Reading. 1C.
The student should read the assigned portions of the required
texts as delineated in the schedule of the course. It is recommended that
the reading assignment be completed before, class each day, though this is
not mandatory. However, it is mandatory that the required
reading be completed by the end of the course. 2C.
The designated form reporting the completion of the required
reading is due on the last day of class. 3C.

Regarding Weekly Assignments: 1C.
There will be (2) weekly assignments in the course. Each
assignment will be comprised of a life related question which might be
asked by an interested lay person concerning the material discussed in
class. The question should be answered in 2 or 3 pages. 2C.
You are free to use class notes, the required textbook and any
other sources you may find helpful in constructing your answer. The
questions are designed to help you utilize, synthesize, and evaluate the
course material. 3C. Both assignment questions will be due no later than the
last day of class. 3B.
Regarding a Weekly Journal: 1C.
Each student should maintain a journal with at least one entry a
week concerning what has been learned on a personal level from class
discussions, and reading about angels and demons and what impact that
insight has made on his life. The entry does not need to be more than
one or two paragraphs. 2C.
The journal should begin with the second week of class and
conclude with the 6th week of class. It will be due the 7' week of
class. 4B. Regarding Course Attendance: Given the nature of the course, it
is essential that the student make every effort to attend all of the
lecture sessions. It is policy that a participant attend six out of nine
clan sessions. It is the responsibility of the student to gather
information and assignments which were missed in his absence. 4A.
COURSE GRADING 1B.
Note: Course grading is optional. It is designed primarily to
facilitate interaction between student and teacher. 2B.
